Abstract

PURPOSE:To generate a character pattern having an arbitrary size without deteriorating the quality and to validly utilize a memory space by generating the character pattern by a geometrical similarity conversion. CONSTITUTION:Data addressed and counts, etc., are written in a CCW (channel command word) storage area 1 on a main memory, and the data addresses are set in a printing storage area 2 on the main memory as various kinds of controlling code and character code, further, printing data are accommodated in a column buffer 3 of a line printer. Character codes in this buffer 3 are sent to alphabet/numeral to CG (character generator) address correspondence table 4-1 or kanjij (chinese character) code to CG address correspondence table 4-2 and corresponding CG addresss are generated, respectively. Still more, together with the extended or contracted control information from a paper feed controlling buffer 5, said addresses are accommodated into the page memory 6. When addresses for one sheet are loaded in the memory 6, a character pattern corresponding to the addresses are readout from the CG memory 8, and in a pattern projection converting circuit 7, they are converted to a prescribed size, accommodated in a pattern memory 9.
