Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce a number of the rod-like ingots simultaneously by pivotally supporting the splited inside ends of split rolls movably up and down and making the ingots graspable between the rolls by means of an operating device.
CONSTITUTION: Three or four rod-like ingots 7 continuously produced by a continuous casting plant are guided simultaneously by roll stands. In this case, the force trying to curve split rolls 2 is acted by the reaction of the grasping force by the operating devices 5 provided at both ends of support frames 4, 4', and unbalances are produced in the contact between the ingots 7 grasped between the rolls 1, 2 and the rolls 1, 2. At this time, an operating device 6 mounted to the frame 4' is operated, whereby all the ingots 7 and the rolls 1, 2 are surely touched and grasped.
