Abstract

PURPOSE:To join steel plates in parallel cutting surely and to perform butting easily by running laser beams parallel to each other on the end of a preceding steel plate and a following steelplate, and after cutting, running the laser beams along the butting face of weld-cutting face of the two steel plates. CONSTITUTION:A torch truck 2 is run on rails 3 in a direction of width of a steel plate strip 6. Laser beams generated by a laser oscillator 1 are projected through condensers 10a, 10b equally and in parallel from laser torches installed on the truck 2 at a distance. The truck 2 is run on the rails 3 and two strips on a butting device 5 are cut in parallel. Next, after butting the cut faces of the two strips 6, one of the above-mentioned laser torch is run along the butting face to weld the two strips 6. Thus, parallel cutting of steel plates can be made surely and easily, and highly accurate butting face can be obtained. Accordingly, conventional large-sized and expensive cutting machines are made unnecessary.
