Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the work efficiency even when the wall thickness or diameter of the pipe to be flash removed differs by having a cutter projectable and extractable and having such projection distance controlled by the projecting limit of a clamp piece.
CONSTITUTION: A lengthy outer shell is supported at its base end on a carriage and is inserted into a medium diameter pipe. A cutter head 12 provided at the tip end of said shell is attached to a rotating hollow shaft 11. A projection/extraction mechanism 20 of a clamp piece 9 moves an engaging element 23 back and forth by the movement of a piston 22 of a cylinder 21 provided and fixed between the shell and the shaft 11. A rotating shaft 16 is rotated maintaining predetermined rotatating ratio with the rotation of the shaft 11 through a differential gear mechanism driven by a motor while the head 12 is rotated by a drive mechanism to project a cutter gradually and cut the flash thereby improving the work efficiency when cutting the flash in the medium diameter pressure welded pipe having different wall thickness or diameter.
