Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a high grade silicon steel plate with a low iron loss value such as >=S8 by adopting short time stepped soaking in a specified temp. range as the condition of the final recrystallization annealing of a steel strip worked from a slab for a nonoriented silicon steel plate. CONSTITUTION:A slab for a nonoriented silicon steel plate contg. <=0.010% C, <=4.0% Si and <=1.0% Al is worked into a steel strip having the thickness of the product. This strip is quickly annealed in a nonoxidizing atomosphere at 850-1,000 deg.C for about 30sec-4min in the former step and at 1,000-1,100 deg.C for <=1min in the latter step. When the temp. in the former step is below the lower limit, predetermined recrystallization is not attained to deteriorate the iron loss, and when the temp. exceeds the upper limit, impure products such as nitride and oxide are easily formed to deteriorate the magnetism. On the other hand, the temp. in the latter step is below the lower limit, the recrystallized grains are smaller to make enhancement in magnetism difficult, and when the temp. exceeds the uppe limit, impure products are formed on the surface of the steel plate. Shorter holding time for soaking in the former step makes the recrystallized grains smaller. Longer holding time for soaking in the former step and that in the latter step result in a slight effect and no effect, respectively.
