Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the travelling load of a tape, by providing a slope to the surface of contact between a fixed lower drum and a rotary upper drum which are formed into a double cylinder structure and then putting the high pressure air through a pierced hole provided to the slope to blow the air out to the tape contact surface of the lower drum. CONSTITUTION:A head drum deivce dis formed by winding a magnetic tape 6 round a fixed lower drum 2 and a rotary upper drum 1. In such drum device, a circular contact surface between a double-structure cylinder of the drum 2 and a lower surface 12 of the drum 1 is formed with a desired logarithm of the opposite part comprising a slope 13 and a flat surface 14. Then a high pressure air lead-in port 15 reaching a space part is provided in a desired number at the position near the apex of the slope 13, and at the same time an air lead-in hole 5 is provided in a desired number at an hollow 4 of a contact surface 3 between the drum 2 and the tape 6. As a result, an air layer is forcibly produced between the drum 2 and the tape 6 when the drum 1 turns toward an arrow mark 16 to reduce the travelling load of the tape 6.
