Abstract

PURPOSE: To absorb a sudden shock upon starting, reversing, stopping, and so on, of a reciprocal travelling member coupled to a driven shaft by interposing between a driving shaft and the driven shaft a friction sliding member which can be slidably displaced to a predetermined fixed position.
CONSTITUTION: In a copier, sprocket wheels 3, 4 are rotated by energization of a motor 1 through a drive chain 2, and when an optical system 5 is to be reciprocally moved, a first advancing clutch 6 is rendered operative so that a gear 8 on a shaft 7 is also rotated. Meanwhile, a second reversing clutch 9 is left inoperative so that another gear 10 is idly rotated by the gear 8. The driving force of the shaft 7 is transmitted to a drive pulley 12 with a predeterined slip time due to frictional sliding motion between friction plates 111, 112, and hence the optical system 5 is reciprocated along a holding rail 17 through a wire 13. When the optical system 5 is to be moved back in the opposite direction, the clutch 6 is renedered inoperative while the other clutch 9 is rendered operative so that the shaft 7 is rotated reversely.
