Abstract
PURPOSE:To shut out the influence of an outside fire and shut in the effect of an internal fire of an low-temperature underground tank to store LNG etc. and limit thereby a danger zone by providing protection walls all around the upper part of the side wall structures at such a level as higher than the top position of the roof of tank. CONSTITUTION:Around the upper part of a cylindrical side wall structures 1, cylindrical protection wall 7 is provided at a level a little higher than the top of the roof 4, and a drain hole 10 is excavated at its lower end to prevent rainwater from staying inside the protection wall 7. A water screen forming device 8 is composed of pipes with nozzle provided all around the protection wall 7 at its uppermost part. Supply of pressure water generate a cylindrical water screen 9 to an appropriate level. This helps the chimney effect of the protection wall 7 to suppress dispersion of gas.
