Abstract

PURPOSE: Fuming sulfuric acid containing a specific concentration of sulfur trioxide is made to act on 1,2-dibromochlorotrifluoroethane to produce the titled compound in one step in high yield by no use of a high-toxicity substance such as mercury oxide.
CONSTITUTION: Fuming sulfuric acid containing 50W70% concentration of sulfur trioxide is made to act on 1,2-dibromochlorotrifluoroethane to produce difluorobromoacetyl fluoride. The amount of the fuming sulfuric acid is decided so that the amount of the sulfur trioxide dissolved in the sulfuric acid becomes 0.2W5, preferably 2W4mol/mol of 1,2-didibromochlorotrifluoroethane. The reaction temperature is -10W120°C, preferably 20W90°C.
USE: Intermediate of raw material for thermosetting fluorine resins, intermediate of raw material for fluorine-containing polycondensate such as heat-resistant and chemically stable polyamide and polyester.
