Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled composition having high adhesivity after the hot- pressing, and excellent rapid-curability by hot-press, water-resistance, and peeling strength, and especially suitable for the bonding of wood, by using an aqueous solution of PVA, an aqueous solution of a specific polyurethane, and an isocyanate compound as essential components.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition is prepared by compounding (A) an aqueous solution of PVA or an aqueous emulsion containing said PVA, (B) an aqueous solution of polyurethane prepared by reacting a terminal isocyanate group- containing prepolymer derived from (i) a polyester.polyol having a number average molecular weight of 500W5,000 and pendant carboxyl groups, and obtained by the reaction of a glycol component containing 10W70 equivalent % of a glycol of formula (R is 1W3C alkyl) with a dicarboxylic acid component containing 5W50 equivalent % of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and (ii) an organic polyisocyanate, with a diamino compound, thereby effecting the chain extension of the prepolymer and the neutralization of the pendant carboxyl groups, and (C) an isocyanate compound.
