Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve an output signal by increasing a difference in magnetic resistance from a nonmagnetic part, by forming a manetic part so that the easy magnetization axis direction of particles of a magnetic material having magnetic anisotropy is perpendicular to the surface of the magnetic part of a recording carrier. CONSTITUTION:A recording carrier 1, such as a disk, consisting of pits 6 as nonmagnetic parts and flat parts 6 as magnetic parts is provided with the magnetic flat parts 5 so that the easy magnetization axis direction of magnetic material particles having magnetic anisotropy is perpendicular to the surfaces of the flat parts 5 of the recording carrier. Consequently, magnetic resistance at the time when a magnetic pickup 11 passes over the flat part 5 is made less than when an ordinary magnetic material is used, so a difference between the magnetic resistance of the magnetic part and that of a nonmagnetic part increases, thereby improving the reproduction output of the recording carrier 1.
