Abstract
PURPOSE: To cool the entire surface of metallic plate materials in a manner as to attain uniform rates of cooling by controlling the temp. distribution in the width direction of cooling water in correspondence to the surface temp. distribution in the width direction of the heated metallic plate materials.
CONSTITUTION: In general, the rates of cooling are so set as to be high on both right and left side parts of a metallic plate material and be low in the central part. The surface temp. distribution in the width direction X-X' of the preceding material 1' is detected with a thermometer 7, and the signal thereof is fed to a temp. distribution transmitter 8 to temp. control units 9, 10, 11. The high-temp. water from a header main pipe 15 is controlled with a control valve 17 and low temp. water from a header main pipe 16 is controlled with a control valve 18 in such a way that cooling water 2a, 2b, 2c attain targeted water temps. and targeted water amounts from the temp. detection signals of the cooling water 2a, 2b, 2c of a cooling water transmitter 12, the detection signal of a high-temp. water flow rate transmitter 13, and the detection signal of a low-temp. water flow rate transmitter 14, whereby the mixing ratio of the high-temp. water and the low-temp. water is changed. The controlled spray water 2a, 2b, 2c is sprayed to the top and bottom surfaces of the material 1 from spray headers 6a, 6b, 6c.
