Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the ductility, toughness, cold workability, etc. of steel products by plastically deforming a steel contg. a specified amount of C in a specified temp. range and holding it in a specified temp. range to spheroidize carbide in the steel. CONSTITUTION:A steel contg. <=2% C is heated to 300 deg.C- the Ar3 point and plastically deformed by 5-80% in the temp. range. It is then held at 500 deg.C- the Ar3 point for >=7min and/or annealed to remarkably accelerate the spheroidizing of carbide. The used steel may be a steel allowed to cool naturally after hot rolling, yet by carrying out controlled cooling after hot rolling, a further increased effect is produced.
