Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture a permanent magnet material with superior thermal stability and superior intrinsic coercive force by press-molding alloy powder having a specified composition consisting of a rare earth element, Co, Fe, Cu and Hf in a magnetic field followed by sintering, slow cooling and rapid cooling.
CONSTITUTION: Alloy powder having a composition represented by formula I (where R is ≥1 kind of rare earth element typified by Sm or Ce, 0.01≤x≤0.4, 0.02≤y≤0.25, 0.001≤α≤0.15 and 6.0≤z≤8.3) is press-molded in a magnetic field. The resulting molding is sintered at 1,120W1,220°C in a vacuum, and the sintered body is held at the sintering temp. to ≥100°C below the temp., that is, at 1,020W1,220°C for a suitable time. The atmosphere is then changed to Ar or the like, and the sintered body is slowly cooled at 0.2W10°C/min rate. When the temp. reaches 900W1,000°C, the body is rapidly cooled at 20W400°C/min rate.
