Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a starter motor from damage caused by over speed by providing an overrun prevention circuit between a solenoid of an electromagnetic switch and a battery so as to intercept the supply of electric current to the starter motor just after the start of an engine.
CONSTITUTION: An overrun prevention circuit 5 consisting of a thyristor 52 at the time of whose disconnection base current of a transistor 51 is introduced via a register 53 and the transistor 51 shows conductive status between its collector and emitter, is provided between a solenoid 31 of an electromagnetic switch 3 and a batterry 1. The output from an F-V circuit 64 provided in an ignition device 6 is normally proportional to the number of revolutions of an engine. For example, when the output is given to the gate of the thyristor 52 in the circuit 5, the thyristor 52 comes in conductive status by the output of the circuit 64 at a fixed number of revolutions of the engine after the engine is started. This construction permits to intercept the supply of current to a starter motor 4 at once, since exciting current is intercepted to flow in the solenoid 31.
