Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to perform a clear printing resulting from the proper arrangement in a direction of a row through the control of a line carriage, by a method wherein differences between a carriage width of a regular amount at every numeral and a carriage width of a regular amount of a particular letter are summed up to adjust a printing position from a following tab code.

CONSTITUTION: A letter width, corresponding to a numeral or alphabetical letter, is stored in a memory 91, and a difference between a particular carriage width, such as super script, half script, etc., and a carriage width of a regular amount is stored in a memory 92 to regulate a total carriage width. In case a numeral row including the super script is printed, data for a full line are once stored in a printing buffer register 6 according to a printing instruction, and are read in turn from the forwardmost numeral by means of a data discriminating circuit 7 to be outputted to a printer drive circuit 81. Simultaneously, a signal NA, corresponding to the data so read, is counted by the memory 91, and when a super script signal is read, a difference between the carriage width of the super script and that of the regular amount is stored in the memory 92.
