Abstract

CONSTITUTION: In urea synthesis in which ammonia is made to react with carbon dioxide under high temperature and pressure, guanidine carbonate is separated and recovered from the process liquid using weakly acidic cation exchange resin. At this time, the resin lowered in capacity is treated with strong mineral acid or aqueous solution of caustic alkali such as ammonium carbonate heating at above 40°C. By this way, the ion exchange capacity of the resin can be restored remarkably, and this regeneration can be used repeatedly.
