Abstract

PURPOSE: To surely feed a melt-spraying material into plasma jet by piercing and providing a trhough-hole which supplies the melt-spraying material toward the plasma jet spraying direction at the center of an electrode.
CONSTITUTION: A water-cooled electrode 11 fixed at the center of a water-cooled nozzle 10 is opened and pierced with a through-hole 12 for supplying a melt-spraying material toward the plasma jet spraying direction. A ceramic cylinder 13 is mounted in the through-hole 12 to achieve electrical insulation from a melt-spraying material. Thereby, the melt-spraying material 14 in the form of powder carried by a feed gas through the through-hole 12 at the center of the electrode 11 is blown to the center of the plasma jet and therefore the material 14 is perfectly melted during flying and is struck against the surface of a blank material. Hence, perfect melt- spraying is possible with high m.p. materials, too, and further melt-spraying efficiency improves.
