Abstract
PURPOSE: To efficiently finish the shape of a sheet material to be rolled into a uniform sectional shape having no circular arc corner with a small installation cost and an inexpensive operational maintenance, by arranging in a production line necessary number of edge treating apparatus comprising a knife for trimming both side edges of a sheet material to be rolled and blank holders for clamping side edges of the sheet material from upper and lower sides.
CONSTITUTION: A driving motor 4 rotates a screw shaft 5 in order to move a knife 2 in the direction of breadth of a sheet material P to be rolled, before being fed to a cold rolling pass, and the interval of knives 2, 2 is set at a prescribed size. This interval is set wider on the upperstream side of plural edge treating apparatus and narrower on the downstream side so as to gradually trim the edge of the sheet material P. Then, the screws 8, 8' are rotated around so as to move the press rollers 14, 14' in the direction of breadth of the sheet material P to a prescribed position; the arms 13, 13' are then turned around by hydraulic cylinders 15, 15' in order to press the sheet material P from upper and lower sides with press rollers 14, 14'. The sheet material P is fed forward, and the knife 2 is rotated by the motor 3; hereby, the knife 2 on the most upperstream side grinds or cuts the circular arc shaped corners of the edge of the sheet material P, and the knife 2 on the most downstream side finishes up the edge of the sheet material P.
