Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a platinum alloy for an ornamental product with excellent mechanical strength and casting property comprising compounding Pt, Pd, Co and one or more of Ge, Si, Zr, Ti, W, Mo, V in a specific amount.
CONSTITUTION: Said Pt alloy for an ornamental product comprises, in the w/o basis, 84W96 Pt, 1W15 Pd, 0.01W5 Ge and 0.01W1.5 one or more of Ge, Si, Zr, Ti, W, Mo, V. A content of Pd is pref. 1W15 w/o from a standpoint of mechanical strength, a cost, corrosion resistance, casting property or the like and, when an adding amount of Co is below 0.01 w/o, enhancement of mechanical strength and casting property is low and, when exceeds 5 w/o, processing property is lowered. One or more of Ge, Si, Zr, Ti, W, Mo, V is added for the reason that those metals form an intermetallic compound with Pt and mechanical strength is enhanced.
