Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:7α-Methoxycephalosporins of formula I (R1 is H, carboxyl-protecting group; R2 is acyloxy, carbamoyloxy; A is alkyl; B is hydroxyl, amino) and their salts.
EXAMPLE: 7β-[ D-α-( 2-Amino-4-thiazolyl )-α-( 4-ethyl-2,3-dioxo-1-piperazinecarboxamide)-acetamide]-7α-methoxy-3-acetoxymethyl-Δ3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid.
USE: Antibacterial: they are active against a wide range of gram-positive and negative bacteria.
PREPARATION: A reactive derivative of the compound of formula III at the carboxyl group is made to act on a compound of formula II (R5 is H, organic silyl, organophosphorus group) in the presence or absence of a base at -60W80°C, preferably -40W30°C for 5min to 5hr to give the compound of formula I.
