Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect and measure the presence of the obstacle and the distance to the obstacle in a simple way by displaying the output signal of the reflected ultrasonic wave on a CRT, wherein a transmitting ultrasonic wave is made a synchronized signal. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic wave transmitter 1 is controlled by a pulse generator 2 and an oscillator 3, and transmits the ultrasonic wave with a specified pulse width at a constant period. A receiver 5 which is arranged in the vicinity of the transmitter 1 receives the reflected wave, and supplies its output to the CRT7. The output from a pulse oscillator 2 is applied to the CRT7 as the synchronizing signal. The time scale of the CRT7 is graduated by the distance corresponding to the speed of the ultrasonic wave in seconds. Said transmitter 1 and receiver 5 are arranged in a specified position of the automobile, and the CRT is arranged in a driver's seat. In this constitution, the presence of the obstacle and the distance to the obstacle can be readily detected and measured.
