Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent cavitation erosion by a method wherein a ring-shaped structure is mounted in front of the propeller, a current is uniformalized while air is ejected from the vicinity of a rear section of said structure, and the decay pressure of cavitation is decreased.
CONSTITUTION: The ring-shaped structure 4 is installed in front of the propeller 2. The ring-shaped structure 4 takes an approximately circle when viewing from the front, and the section takes an inversed blade shape in which an inner surface is expanded. A side surface of the structure takes a shape in which the length of an upper section is longer and is contracted toward a lower section. A plurality of air conduits 3' are disposed to an upper section of the ring-shaped structure 4, and blast nozzles 3 at the end sections are opened toward the propeller 2 side. The decay pressure of the cavitation generated on a blade surface of the propeller 2 can be decreased owing to the buffer action of air ejected from the blast nozzles 3.
