Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the through put by selectively controlling the shift mode depending on whether the space between Chinese characters and alphanumeric kana signs are larger than an approach distance detecting it when they are switched from one to the other.
CONSTITUTION: When the data to be printed are switched from Chinese characters to numerals and vice versa, a printing head movement controlling circuit 3 controls the speed of a pulse motor 5 from V1 to V2 and vice versa as shown by (a) in the drawing if the space data B detected by a space detecting means 1 exceeds the approach data C and a continuous mode signal (e) is outputted from a comparing means 2. As a result, a printing head performs a printing continuously moving to the right as shown by (b) in the drawing while moving at a high speed between printing sections D2 of the numeral. Thus, the printing becomes faster thereby improving the through put.
