Abstract
PURPOSE:To protect a tank from damage in the case of an internal accident, by a method wherein reinforcement members are fixed to a bottom plate and a top plate of the tank only at the central portions and both ends of those reinforcement members are coupled by pins with top and bottom ends of other reinforcement members which are placed along the side of the tank. CONSTITUTION:A bottom plate reinforcement member 4 and a top plate reinforcement member 5 of a tank 2 in which a main body 1 is contained are fixed to the bottom plate and the top plate by welding only at the central portions of the plates for the length l. The both ends of those members 4, 5 are coupled by pins 7 with top and bottom ends of side plates reinforcement members 3 which are placed along the side of the tank 2. The pins 7 are broken by a vertical force when an internal pressure of the tank 2 reaches a prescribed limit so that the couplings of the reinforcement members 3 and 4 or 3 and 5 are set free and the members are seperated. With said method, the reinforcement members prevent the tank 2 from deformation caused by a vacuum external pressure when oil is poured into the tank 2 and the pins 7 are broken at the prescribed pressure and help the expansion of the tank so that the internal pressure rise is limited low and the tank is protected from damage when the internal pressure rise occurs in case of the internal accident.
