PURPOSE:To make distribution of light bidirectionally among four pieces of optical fibers possible by using a square columnar reflecting mirror. CONSTITUTION:The light transmitted through an optical fiber 12 spreads in a pi/2 cut cylindrical focusing lens 16, and emits from an outlet end faces as parallel rays. These rays direct toward a reflection mirror 19 of a square column of which the respective side faces are reflecting specular mirrors. Each one third of the parallel rays is reflected by the adjacent right and left reflecting specular surfaces of the mirror 19 opposite to the lens 16. The reflected rays respectively direct toward pi/2 cut cylindrical focusing lenses 15, 17. The remaining one third of the parallel rays does not fall onto the mirror 19, passes by each one sixth through both sides of the reflecting mirror and is made incident to the end face of a pi/2 cut cylindrical focusing lens 18 opposite thereto. Hence, the light propagating in the fiber 12 is distributed uniformly to optical fibers 11, 13, 14.
