PURPOSE:To ensure easy and accurate positioning of a cassette tape to a recorder, by performing the positioning of the cassette tape by means of the bar-shaped permanent magets which are provided at the four corners of a housing. CONSTITUTION:A housing 10 has almost a thin rectangular parallelepiped structure which is covered with a thin plastic plate, and the inside of the housing 10 has a substantial airtight structure. And a take-up reel 12a and a roll-out reel 12b are installed rotatably in the inside of the housing 10. A tape 15 is wound round the reel 12a. For the tape 15, a linear scanning part 15a is provided between guides 14a and 14b and an optical head 20 is provided on a front wall 10c along the part 15a to perform the recording/reproduction of information to the tape 15. At the same time, bar-shaped permanent magnets 301-304 are fixed at the four corners of the housing 10, respectively. Thus the sucking force is produced among a permanent magnet of a recorder and the magnets 301-304 to hole the cassette accurately at a prescribed position.
