Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the resolution at both sides of a screen by making the electron beam pass hole of a central electrode in three acceleration electrodes arranged between a control electrode and a focus electrode asymmetrical against the axis while applying the acceleration voltage decreasing with the increase of the beam deflection on said electrode. CONSTITUTION:Three acceleration electrodes 15, 16, 17 are arranged between a control electrode 11 and a focus electrode 13 where the electron beam pass holes 20', 20'', 20''' of the central acceleration electrode 16 is rectangular having the long side in lateral direction. Said rectangular pass hole will provide the focusing operation on the electron beam which is strong in vertical direction while weak in the horizontal direction, thereby the electron beam immediately after passing through the acceleration electrode system 12 has the cross-section elongated in the horizontal direction. Consequently when applying the acceleration voltage on the electrode 16 same with that on the electrodes 15, 17 and reducing said voltage gradually with the increase of the beam deflection, the beam spot of the electron beam considerably deflected in the horizontal direction can be brought approximately to real circle thereby the resolution at the left and right sides and the diagonal line area of the screen face can be improved.
