Abstract

PURPOSE:To cope with the abnormal overheating of a head through forecasting the abnormal overheating on the basis of the count value of the number of dots printed by respective printing pins, by counting number of dots by checking dot pattern data stored in an image buffer. CONSTITUTION:An input and output control part 1 receives and transmits data from and to an upper priority device, and a microprocessor 3 performs processing commanded by a program stored in an ROM4. An address decoder 8, on the other hand, receives address information sent via an address bus and, on the basis of the address information, outputs or controls input ports 9 and 10 to supply data specified by the decoder 8 to a line driver 11, thereby sending data inputted to a line receiver 12 to a data bus. Then, dot pattern data is checked by the line driver 11 and receiver 12 to count the number of dots that respective printing pins of a printer mechanism part 16 prints and on the basis of the count value, abnormal overheating is forecasted, thereby coping with the abnormal overheating.
