Abstract

PURPOSE:To avoid the occurrence of a gap between a magnetic pole and a magnetic recording medium, by setting the wear resistance of a side holder equal to or lower than that of the magnetic pole. CONSTITUTION:A side holder 6 of soft glass, etc. having the wear resistance equal to or lower than that of a magnetic pole 2 made of a thin film of high magnetic permeability is provided on the side face toward the travelling direction of the pole 2 which is set with its tip opposite to the recording face of a magnetic recording medium. In such constitution, the wear caused by the rubbing between the head face of a magnetic head and the magnetic recording medium is always caused from the side holder. Thus the rubbing can always be secured between the tip of the pole 2 and the magnetic recording medium. As a result, the vertically magnetized recording having high resolution and high stability is possible for a long period of time with high reliability and without causing any problem of the spacing loss.
