Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically exchange single tool magazine between the longitudinal and lateral directions by rotating a finger for catching the tool. CONSTITUTION:At the waiting position the finger 6 of ATC arm 5 is rotated by 90 deg. and in parallel with the lateral main shaft 3. When the tool 12 completed with the working is caught by the finger 6, the arm holder 9 is moved to the right by the cylinder 10 to draw out the tool 12 then the arm 5 will rotate by 90 deg. to direct the finger 6' to the main shaft 3 while the fingers 6 and 6' are rotated by 90 deg. to the longitudinal and lateral positions respectively. Upon the insertion of a new tool 12' into the main shaft 3, the arm holder 9 will move to the left thus to return the tool completed of the working to the magagine 11. In case of a longitudinal shaft, the fingers 6, 6' will not rotate.
