Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the content of impurities, by detecting light intensity of domain of luminous wavelength of contained impurities from a combustion light of gas to be inspected mixing inpurities and substracting the light intensity to be inspected not containing impurities from said light intensity. CONSTITUTION:A fuel gas to be inspected is branched by a pressure pump 1 to supply to the first flow passage 3 provided with a column for desulfurization 2 packing activated carbon and the second flow passage 5 provided with a dummy column 4 for pressure loss 4 on the way. Each switching valve 6, 7 is provided on each passage 3, 5 and the fuel gas subjected to a desulfurization treatment and the untreated fuel gas are supplied to a burner 8 by controlling opening and shutting of valves 6, 7 alternately. Both fuel gases are burnt together with air and gaseous hydrogen and a combustion light 9 is received by a photoelectric converter 11 through a filter 10 transmitting a domain of 390nm wavelength corresponding to the domain of luminous wavelength of sulfur. Further, its output voltage is amplified and a detected value (c) is obtained by processing the signal of peak value and then, a content of sulfur in the fuel gas can be found.
