Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve stable and excellent fixation on various atmospheric conditions by providing an auxiliary heating means of heating a developer image on a recording material in a carriage path for the recording material. CONSTITUTION:An infrared lamp 9 is so provided opposite a carriage belt 6 tha infrared rays from the IR lamp 9 are radiated to the developer image supporting surface of a recording material 7. The lamp 9 and a reflecting umbrella 10 are provided facing the recording material 7 before an electrostatic heating and fixing device 8 to preheat the recording material 7 supporting a toner image. The both form an auxiliary heating means. Then, a temperature sensor 12 which detects ambient temperature is provided near the lamp 9, and a control circuit 13 controlling a voltage applied to the lamp 9 according to the detected temperature of the sensor 12 connects the sensor 12 and lamp 9 together.
