Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it possible to heat a suction air tube by opening the end of a intake air subchannel provided on an exhaust channel side, and heating the intake air of the intake subchannel through an intake air heating member installed in the intake subchannel in a cross flow type internal combustion engine.
CONSTITUTION: An intake air subchannel 52 is installed on an exhaust channel side 32. The end of the channel 52 is opened inside a main intake air channel 28 so that the end may be directed at a combustion chamber 16. The wall of an intake subtube 38 communicating to the intake subchannel 52 turns a heating member 46 of an intake tube. The diameter of the intake subchannel 52 is smaller than that of the main intake channel 28. The intake air passing through the intake air subchannel 52 increases its speed. The fuel injected from a fuel injector 54 flows with the high speed intake air into the combustion chamber 16, which makes the atomization better. The intake air going through the intake subchannel 52 is heated with the heating member 46 of the intake air tube heated with a hot exhaust. Therefore, the injected fuel is satisfactorily atomized.
