Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the corrosion resistance, the sensitivity and the wear resistance respectively, by covering the surface of an optical recording member consisting of a plastic substrate with a thin film of a light transmissive inorganic material. CONSTITUTION:Te is vapour deposited by 500Angstrom as a recording medium 2 on an acrylic substrate 1. Two pieces of such medium 2 are bonded together via a spacer 5. Then the outer surface of the medium 2 is vapour deposited and covered with to increase an SiO2 film 4 by about 0.5mum the corrosion resistance. In addition to SiO2, the oxides such as silicon monoxide, aluminum oxide, tin oxide, indium oxide, or the fluorides such as cerium fluoride, thorium fluoride, bismuth fluoride, magnesium fluoride, are used for the inorganic material which is used to cover the outer surface of the medium 2.
