Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the safety of a brake device, by intermittently operating a vacuum pump when the output signal of a vacuum sensor is not changed for a prescribed length of time.
CONSTITUTION: In a device 6 operating a vacuum pump 9 with a motor 8, a monostable multivibrator circuit 61 and auxiliary timer circuit 62 are provided. If a vacuum sensor 5 is short-circuited, output B of a comparator 37 in the monostable multivibrator circuit 61, being at a high level, causes a capacitor 39 in the auxiliary timer circuit 62 to be changed to increase potential at a point C, then a comparator 38 is inverted after a prescribed length of time with potential at a point B at a low level. In this way, the motor 8 is driven through a relay 7 to operate the vacuum pump 9 and prevent reduction of negative pressure in a brake booster 4.
