Abstract

PURPOSE: To adsorb the low mol.wt. protein in a soln. selectively by using a porous body of specific pore volume of which the pores are in a specific range as a low mol.wt. protein adsorbent.
CONSTITUTION: Porous glass, porous silica or the like which is a porous body of ≥0.1cc/g pore volume, and of which ≥90% of the pores are within a 30W150Å pore size range is used as an adsorbent for adsorbing protein of low mol.wts. selectively. Since such adsorbent can adsorb away selectively the toxic protein of poisonous snakes or the like in solns. such as blood or blood-clot, and low mol.wt. protein such as lysozyme, it has wide applications.
