Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the quantity of supplying purified air for preventing the fouling of an insulator and said fouling at the same time, and to make an electrostatic precipitator small-sized, by supplying the purified air from a blowing nozzle only to the side near an air exit port of the precipitator.
CONSTITUTION: Soot and dust contained in air, blown in the X direction from an inlet port 13 of an electrostatic precipitator, are given electric charges by corona discharge from prejections 12 while the air is flowing through the inside of cylindrical collecting electrode 11. The charged particles are attracted and collected by the electrodes 11; so that the air sent to the exit port side 14 of the precipitator in the X' direction is purified. Further the purified air is supllied from a blow-in nozzle 18 in the Y direction to elevate slightly the pressure of the purified air within an insulator chamber 19 so as to prevent an entry of air X' into the chamber 19. Therefore, the necessary purified air and the quantity of the dust treating air are reduced as compared to a conventional apparatus, and then the apparatus is made small-sized.
