Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove remaining flux adhering in a coating maching that coats flux on covered welding rod core wire by forcing a mass of ice or solid carbon dioxide into inside of a cylinder and die head.
CONSTITUTION: A square or rounded lump of ice a little smaller in diameter than that of a flux cylinder is filled in the cylinder by forward and backward movement of a piston 11. The piston is further advanced to crush the lump of ice, and crushed ice is pressed in a form concordant to the shape of inside of the cylinder and die head 18. At this time, flux remaining in the die head is pushed to outside. The crushed ice moves to the die 19 of the die head scraping off the flux 7 adhering on inner surface of the cylinder and die head, and the flux and ice are pushed out. The ice in the die head is pushed from the die part to inside of the die head and removed.
