Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover iron and chlorine from waste liquid containing iron chloride with simple operation by preparing CaCl2 through using the waste liquid containing iron chloride as chlorine source and using CaCO3 as Ca source, and recovering iron in the waste liquid as Fe(OH)3.
CONSTITUTION: CaCO3 and/or Ca(OH)2 is added to waste liquid containing FeCl2 and FeCl3, the waste liquid is diluted with CaCl2 solution, and iron is recovered as hydroxide. A part of the filtrate is circulated as diluting solution, and remaining part is recovered as CaCl2 solution, crystallized CaCl2 or anhydrous CaCl. Otherwise, Ca(OH)2 is added to CaCl2 solution to crystallize a basic salt, the solution is filtered to recover basic CaCl2. At the same time, the mother liquor is circulated as diluting solution, or basic CaCl2 is dehydrated by heating to recover as a double salt of CaCl2 and CaO.
