Abstract

PURPOSE: To maintain the activated sludge of an aerating tank at high concns. and treat waste water under high load by subjecting the waste water to activated sludge aeration treatment, centrifugally separating part its effluent, mixing the remaining part of said effluent and the centrifugally separated water and subjecting the same to solid-liquid separation.
CONSTITUTION: Raw water 1 flows together with the return sludge 5, 6 from a centrifugal separator 3 and a settling tank 4 into an aerating tank 2 where the polluting matter of the raw water is removed and part thereof flows as mixed liquid 18 into the centrifugal separator 3. The remaining mixed liquid 19 flows into a dilution tank 11. Part of concd. sludge 17 is the return sludge 5 to the aeration tank 2, and the remaining part is treated as excess sludge 7. The mixed liquid 19 flowed into the tank 11 is diluted by the concd. separated water 8 from the centrifugal separator 3 and diluted mixed liquid 20 is subjected to solid-liquid separation to supernatant 9 and settled sludge 21 in the tank 4. The supernatant 9 is released directly or after higher treatment. Part of the settled sludge 21 is the return sludge to the tank 2.
