Abstract
PURPOSE: After a composition consisting of a halogen-containing polymer and a mercaptoalkoxysilane metal salt is kneaded and extruded, the product is brought into contact with water to ensure crosslinking readily at low temperature and produce the crosslinked product with high heat resistance.
CONSTITUTION: A halogen-containing polymer such as chloroprene rubber, a mercaptoalkoxysilane metal salt, and when necessary, an anhydrous inorganic metal salt that releases crystal water with the heat on the extrusion are kneaded at a temperature lower than 100°C and resultant silane graftomer is processed by extrusion. Then, the product is brought into contact with water or the inorganic salt in the composition is made to release the crystal water to effect the crosslinking.
