Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape having excellent writing quality tearability and copying performance, by coating a setting agent and a pressure-sensitive adhesive on one side of a sheet composed of PP and a specified methylpentene polymer and biaxially orienting the sheet.
CONSTITUTION: A 0.5μ thick setting agent layer such as an ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer layer, and a 15W20μ thick pressure-sensitive adhesive layer such as a synthetic resin hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, are provided on one side of a sheet composed of 90W55wt% PP having a m.p. of 160°C or higher and an intrinsic viscosity in tetralin soln. at 135°C of 1.5W2.7 and 10W45wt% methylpentene polymer having Vicat softening point not higher than the m.p. of PP. Then this sheet is orented at a temp. ranging from 155°C to the m.p. of PP under the conditions satisfying λM≥2, λT≥λM, 4≤λT and λM≤56, wherein λM is percentage of stretch in lengthwise direction and λM is that in crosswise direction.
