Abstract
PURPOSE: To minimize the deterioration in the bonding strength due to aging by combinedly carrying out cathodic electrolysis in an aqueous soln. of chromate or dichromate and treatment with hot water.
CONSTITUTION: Electrolytic chromate treatment is carried out using a steel plate as a cathode in an aqueous soln. of chromic anhydride, chromate or dichromate to obtain an electrolytically chromate treated steel plate having a chromate coate as at least its surface layer. The amount of the chromate coat of this steel plate is regulated to 5W50mg/m2 in an electrolytic chromate treatment bath, and the plate is washed as requred. Cathodic electrolysis is then carried out with ≥2.5C/dm3 electricity as ≤20A/dm2 current density in an aqueous soln. of chromic anhydride contg. F- in 1/≤10 ratio of F-/Cr+6. Finally, the plate is treated with hot water at 60W100°C and ≥4pH for 0.3W10sec.
