Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the heat transfer capacity of the captioned heat exchanger by a method wherein a group of heat transfer pipes of a mist type heat exchange system are arranged on the upstream side of a liquid mist circulating passage and a group of heat transfer pipes of a forced convection type heat exchange system are arranged on the downstream side of the passage.
CONSTITUTION: The groups of heat transfer pipes 5 and 6 are arranged within a casing 4 having inlets 1, an outlet 2 and a water receiving section 3. The group of the heat ransfer pipes 5 are of the mist type heat exchange system and the group of the heat transfer pipes 6 are of the forced convection type heat exchange system, and latters are arranged on the downstream side of the former group of pipes 5. Further, nozzles 7 are arranged at positions of the inlets 1, respectively, of the heat exchanger so as to inject a liquid mist toward the group of heat transfer pipes 5. In addition, a heat medium such as a coolant vapor flows into the pipes 5 and 6 and a stream of air flows outiside the pipes from the inlets 1 to the outlet 2. The liquid mist injected by the nozzles 7 damps the surfaces of the group of pipes 5 to thereby increase the cooling capacity thereof and the group of pipes 6 are forcibly cooled by the stream of air from a blower 8.
