PURPOSE:To synchronize a picture with transfer paper, to shorten a stand-by time, and to speed up copying operation, by stopping exposure with an optical picture signal when the transfer paper does not reach a resist roller, and restarting the exposure after prescribed operation is performed. CONSTITUTION:For example, the carriage of transfere paper is delayed, and failed in synchronizing the front edge of a pictur on a photosensitive drum with the transfer paper, and a flip-flop FF1 is set. If a set signal for driving a resist roller is outputted, namely, when a differential signal is outputted from a differentiating circuit 27, an AND gate AND2 outputs a reexposure request signal RE to an exposure part and an optical picture signal PS is cut off. After prescribed operation is performed, the optical picture signal is outputted again. Thus, a reexposing function for the carriage delay of the transfer paper is provided, so a copying speed is increased without paying attention to accidental paper delay.
