Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the tappet sound from an unloader pump by excavating an oil sump concave in the contact surface of a tapet plunger and installing an orifice to put this concave in communication to the outside.
CONSTITUTION: A cam 65 reciprocates a tappet 78, and a plunger 79 is pressed by the tappet 78 and, at the same time, pushed back by a spring 82 to generate oil pressure in a pump chamber 76. An oil sump concave 67 is formed in the contact surfaces of the tappet 78 and plunger 79 between, and put in communication with the pump chamber 76 through an orifice-shaped passage 68. Even when high pressure is generated in the pump and the plunger 79 can not return fully, that will cause the tappet 78 to beat the plunger 79, the action of the oil sump cancave 67 and orifice-shaped passage 68 will absorb shock of beat and thereby lessen the tappet sound.
