Abstract
PURPOSE: To suppress the liberation and scattering of solid catalytic particles and the local reaction and obtain a polymer of high quality efficiently by polymerizing an olefin in the vapor phase in a polymerizing fluidized bed reactor equipped with a dispersing region for solid catalytic particles at the lower part by the batch method.
CONSTITUTION: An olefin, e.g. propylene, is polymerized in the vapor phase in a polymerizing fluidized bed reactor 1 equipped with a dispersing region 2 having an inverted truncated cone structure for solid catalytic particles at the lower part thereof by the batch method. In the process, the solid catalytic particles are fed from a feed inlet 7 into the dispersing region 2 for the solid catalytic particles, and a fluidizing gas is introduced from inlets 4 and 5 into the reactor 1 to carry out the polymerization while fluidizing the solid catalystic particles and resultant polymeric particles. The polymeric particles are then separated from a taking outlet 6. Preferably, the volume of the dispersing region 2 is 1/10 or less that of the fluidized bed reactor 1, and the ratio between the inside diameter and the height of the dispersing region 2 is (1:1)W(1:6).
