Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a polarizing plate superior in transparency, resistance to combination of high humidity and heat, dimension stability, and heat resistance, by forming a resin film layer having a specified physical property on the polarizing plate. CONSTITUTION:A film layer made of any one of polysulfone, polyethersulfone, polyester, and polyamide, and having <=850nm phase difference value delta represented by the equation shown in the right is formed on the surface of a polarizer as a protective film. Polysulfone or the like film on the market can be used by heat treating it to remove its orientation and to reduce DELTAn consequently, and giving the desired delta value to the film. In the equation, delta is the phase difference value when the angle between the incident polarization face and the longitudinal direction axis of the film is set to 45 deg., DELTAn is a double refraction value, and delta is thickness.
