Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve a tonal range recording system having a linear coloring density visually, by controlling an applying level as well as applying time. CONSTITUTION:Taking a 4-tone graduation recording as an example, the applying time is controlled as 0, t1, t2, t3 and the applying level is split into three split time elements t01, t02, t03 corresponding to V2 for the t01 and V1 for the t02, t03. Thus, the coloring density at time t1 is expressed as dB which is cross point between a curve 2 and the time t1 since the applied level is V2 for a recording amount B. For recording amount C, the synthesized coloring density dc is obtained at time t2, since the applied level V1 is at the 2nd time split t02. Simultaneously, for amount D, the density dD is obtained. Thus, by suitably determining V1, V2 and t1, t2, t3 the coloring density difference D1, D2, D3 are all equal and a linear density characteristics can be obtained for four amounts A, B, C, D.
